Technology

NOST technologies is unlike any other suspension company around the globe. We are familiar with the other brands and all other recent technology currently on the market. From what we have seen at NOST we are the only company selling components that are truly different than the stock or conventional off-road suspension systems. The fact is even the nearly un-obtainable 5,000 dollar special works packages are still using the very same shim configuration/3& 4 port piston designs; simply with different shim stacks. The suspension industry as a whole has been locked into the same technology since 1986, or 1987. While some of the suspension industry leaders have made working configurations with REAL shim control systems, the basic theory and designs are still very similar to the original versions from 20 years ago. While it is true these tuners have improved the current suspension systems characteristics; the fact is, this is fine-tuning, not redefining.
The current suspension technologies that are in use by manufacturers and tuners today are still basically the exact same technology from the 80’s. Interestingly, the fact is many of these renowned suspension tuners either incorporate the same or very similar shimming configurations in their custom suspension packages. Also all the top suspension manufacturers are making almost identical compression pistons and mid-valve structures. With almost every racer wishing he had an “other than stock” suspension, this proves that there is still huge room for improvement. At NOST we knew that suspension has to have real working parts that must exceed the traditional piston and shim control. NOST recognized years ago that we had to start the long development process of designing and testing completely new technologies to obtain a functioning and duplicatable suspension system that would meet our stringent and heretofore impossible goals.

OD3 (Optimized Damping 3-Way Control) is truly a breakthrough technology! With the stock suspensions existing shaft and body layout we can replace the stock parts with the NOST OD3 system. The addition of the NOST OD3 changes of the whole mechanics of the OEM technology and replaces it with a more sufficient, controllable and functional damping control technology. The bottom line is the OEM parts are limited by their shape and flow control dynamics. At NOST we have heard from so many top riders that the revalving of stock parts continues to be an exercise in compromise. Valve for the G-outs and jumps, and it is still in the small stuff. The clickers may help for fine-tuning, but cannot change the level of compliance which is determined by these again traditional shim stacks. So each rider valves for how they predominantly ride, and they learn to compromise and deal with the shortcomings of the required baseline settings. NOST OD3, delivers such high levels of adjustability and control that with simple adjustments a rider can change the very nature of their NOST suspension components. With the NOST system a rider finally can adjust to the level that could only be previously obtained with different sets of suspension. NOST has the leading edge to technology that eliminates frustration, and allows riders to adjust the suspension to conditions rather than adjust riding to the suspension!

WORKS suspension is definitely higher priced. If it were easy to make suspension work better with “other than stock” components, then it would be in the motorcycle when you buy it. The best suspension in the world is still unknown, but it is definitely improving rapidly. The one factor that is not improving rapidly is the way suspension wears on the body. It is obvious that hard riding or serious racing makes your body fatigue at a certain rate. It is also obvious that even the very best riders get completely worn down, even in a 30-minute race. After watching the national circuit it is apparent that when the best suspension is not used, championships are lost, even to the best racer. I would be pleased to call this the invisible suspension nightmare. Until now no one knew how to fix all the riders issues and suspension is beating the tar out of almost every top rider in the world. I believe they have to over-train to over come the issue. This is also is frustrating because the majority of racers are under-trained. With the NOST OD3 system we can maximize the energy saved by proper suspension dynamics and allow the bike to work more efficiently on its own. Talented riders are more capable of adapting to partially developed suspension, thus making it hard for them to impose to the manufacturer a complete fix.

TECHNOLOGY like the OD3 is not apparent to most engineers because of its complex pressured pathways. This system has so many characteristics inside it is virtually non programmable by a computer. Although it is simple to understand once it is developed, it is not something one could look at and say how it works. The paths which the oil flows through are relative to the speed and contrast of the controlling parties. The mid-valve and the compression valve each do unique forms of control. It is difficult to place a specific control to each of the parties unless one rides numerous systems and can place that value at each individual area through the process of elimination. This takes years of hard work and is only possible to understand through organized and documented procedure. This is not something that would be assembled by accident or by a hopeful theory. It takes almost 25 different resistant features to create OD3. All of which are placed strategically. This makes for a system that will keep you wondering for years as to how it works. Although the technology is secret, it is completely available to use for your pleasure. To the best of our ability we are telling everyone how it works and trying to keep it protected. Hopefully the information we provide will influence you and help you to see we are giving you a new and better product. Give OD3 a try and we will make sure you are satisfied with our 30-day guarantee.
